How did you learn about The Journey?
One of my teachers recommended it as a great opportunity to participate in a prestigious programme and step out of my comfort zone.
Which countries did you visit throughout The Journey?
During our Journey we visited well-known cities and acknowledged universities in Europe. We started at University of Warwick in England, then spent two weeks in Berlin (Technische Universität Berlin and Green Garage). Finally we prepared for our pitch at Imperial College London.
What project did you work on?
Our idea is to provide disposable tableware made from local agriculture waste, our business is based in the UK. We would like to reduce the amount of waste in music festivals, street food festivals and in any kind of events where only disposable tableware can be used. We developed our idea further in the UK Greenhouse Programme and now we are proceeding to the Accelerator Programme.
What was the most interesting thing about the teamwork in an international team?
After we formed teams to make a business plan the fact that we would like to work together on a product was such a strong bond that it helped us to tackle the difficulties and conflicts.
What was the biggest challenge in The Journey?
The biggest challenge was the pitch. To perform as a coherent, professional team and prove that our idea is feasible, was a big challenge with such short deadlines. Finally our pitch was successful and we were encouraged to apply for the UK Greenhouse Programme.
What did you like most about The Journey?
It was amazing to see and learn so many useful things and meet with so many people during the five weeks. It was really an intense "once in a lifetime" experience, the network and friendships made during the Journey are still very important part of my life.
What were your most valuable takeaways from The Journey?
The ones who are willing to tackle nowadays climate change issues are really needed and we can really make a difference! Our strength is the diversity of our network and our combined passion to find solutions. Let’s keep in touch after the programme and cooperate!
What would you recommend future Journey participants?
Have confidence and find the people who you can work with the best and then keep on working. Finally you will find the business idea which all of you are fallen in love with!
